On the 21st of October, 2010 the school played host to the Primate of all England, Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams. Heads of various Christian denominations including the Chairman of the Board of Management, Rt. Rev. S. Vasanthakumar, Moderator of the Church of South of India and Archbishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras were present.
Rev. Williams emphasised on the need to see that there is no essential contradiction between the discourse of religion and human rights. The focus of human rights in the west on “claims and individuals” had often left people of faith wondering if it is appropriate for them, Rev. Williams said. He added that there is a need to understand that human rights are essentially about identifying the “image of God in every human being” and the “veneration we ought to feel about one another”.
The Governor of the state, Mr. H. R. Bharadwaj, who was also present, said that the fathers of democratic India like Mahatma Gandhi had learnt a lot form the teachings of Christ, and that only inter faith harmony and dialogue could save the nation and the world.
