As is customary, St. Peter’s Day was celebrated on the 29th of June 2010 with utmost fervour. A Holy Communion service was conducted in the auditorium which was beautifully decorated and made to look like the altar at St. Peter’s Chapel. The Celebrant and Preacher for the Sung Holy Eucharist service was the Moderator and Bishop of the Church of South India, Karnataka Central Diocese, Rt. Rev. S. Vasanthakumar.
The service began at 8:30 am with the procession. A host of Old Cottonians, who were eager to participate in the service, were also present. The choir rendered many heavenly hymns and choruses. The sermon was given by Rt. Rev. S. Vasanthakumar, who said that just as Simon Peter was the rock on which the church was built, so are the Bishop Cotton Institutions that are rocks upon which a better society for our country is being built upon as the institutions have left no stone unturned in emulating in the 10,000 students under it, qualities of peace, honesty and love for mankind.
The service drew to a close with Rt. Rev. S. Vasanthakumar pronouncing the benediction. A delicious brunch was organised after the service which was greatly enjoyed by all present.
