Imagine. Imagine a billion random silicon chips amalgamating to give you a circuit. Imagine the billion distinct cells flowing through your vein at this very instant. Imagine a billion atoms coalescing the birth of a new star. The universe is in orderly chaos. One word maintains the balance. One word preserves the harmony. Synchronize.
After months of hard work and effort, the students of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School proudly presented their fest ‘Synchronize 09’. If last year ‘’IT was as good as it gets. This year IT certainly got better with Science.” The fest was held on the 9th and 10th of November in the school premises. The Event received a great response and 33 schools participated in this festival of Science and Technology. The Fest started off with a bang with the Synchronize theme song played by the School Band. The Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony, our Principal Sir pressed a virtual button which symbolically released elements of knowledge and passion that finally amalgamated to give Synchronize-09.
This mega event itself comprised of many events.
Clash of the Titans: A full on IT debate where debaters had to argue in a moderated conference and put forward their points. The finalists were pitted against Mr. Vinay Goel from Google India in a bid to find the ultimate Titan.
Blogger: The participants were expected to encompass the very feel of Synchronize on campus during the 2 days of the fest in a blog. Interesting photographs, unusual documentation and candid photography were the order of the day.
Quest: Four participants from each school specializing in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Technology were put to a series of tasks to find the ultimate winner. It was one of the most anticipated events at Synchronize-09 which kept the participants more than busy for two days. Wit: A sci-tech quiz
. Inference: The teams were tested on how well they could adapt their minds to perceive the world in diverse and unique ways with questions that required them to apply their logic and reasoning power as well as their knowledge of the sciences.
Quad Damage: The most popular event of them all: Gaming! This event was divided into two sections; console gaming and PC gaming. The participants’ Gaming Quotient was tested by popular games like Fifa Street 2, Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War 2. The event enthralled the audiences and the participants alike.
Event X: A mystery event that was to be revealed to the participants only on the day of the fest. We at cottons sure love a good surprise. Is it a mix up of all the other events or a Treasure Hunt? Thoughts such as these tormented the minds of the participants for days prior to the fest but Event X really turned out to be a test of logic and rationale.
The Turing Test: Programming! Participants were allowed to use either C++ or Java as their programming language. In the finals the participants were expected to code, debug and run their program on their allotted computer. The best program won.
Show IT Off: At Cottons, we believe in developing young talent. Show IT Off was an event especially for the middle school students in which they did just that, showed off their presentation skills using either Flash or Powerpoint.
Spectra: The teams displayed and explained pre prepared models which were based on scientific laws or principles. The finals saw the teams making a boat on the spot with the given materials. The Teams pitted their boats in a race and needless to say, the fastest boat won.
National Public School, Indiranagar were crowned the overall champions and were handed over the rolling trophy. Synchronize came to a close leaving behind sweet memories and experiences for years to come.
