I daresay that leading Thomas House is one of the most challenging offices in school. Being the youngest house, conceived in 1995, Thomas House is still grappling with demographic issues. However, there is no dearth of talent in Thomas House. As I look back at my tenure as the captain of Thomas House, I do so with no regrets. It has been an exhilarating experience, to say the least. One, that has taught me important lessons. It is near impossible to summarize my thoughts in few words.
Leading a house is indeed a unique experience, considering that you have 1200 people, ranging from the age of 6-17 as your peers. The rivalry with the other houses is compounded by the fact that the captains of the other houses are your own classmates!
Thomas House has taken huge strides in this academic year. We saw a remarkable improvement in its performances, be it in Athletics, Elocution or Debate. This is definitely due to the dynamic spirit of its students. Our version of the monthly magazine, Cottons Pratibimb achieved rave reviews from one and all for its innovative features and design. The defining moment for Thomas House was when it won the X-H division relay, the most comprehensive event of our Annual Athletic Meet, for the very first time. Our house finished a close second in the inaugural edition of the Cottons Model United Nations. Sterling performances from our musicians got us a second position in the Inter House Music Competition as well.
During my year as captain, I have worked closely with my house-mates, and their positive attitude and spirit is really heartening. In fact, it was the students’ encouragement that kept me going when I was overwhelmed with responsibility.
I wish to thank each and every student and teacher who helped me during the course of the year, especially my immediate Juniors. The current batch of 11th Standard students is indeed very talented. Special thanks to our new House Mistress, Mrs H Savithri who took over the reins of leadership from Mr John Abraham.
I wish to conclude by saying that I have given my all to Thomas House this year. I’m sure that my successor will do the same. WITH FAITH IN OURSELVES AND GOD OVERHEAD’
